Sabudana Khichdi | Sago Khichdi For Fasting

Sabudana Khichdi is specially made during fasting, but it also great for breakfast or snack. It is cooked with Sabudana, potatoes, chilies, and peanuts.



INGREDIENTS: FOR 3-4 Servings

Sabudana ................................. 1 Cup
Potato small pieces .................. 1 Cup
Green chili chopped ................ 1 Tbsp.
Curry leaves ................................. 7-8
Cumin seeds .............................. 1 tsp.
Roasted peanut crushed ......... ¼ Cup
Ginger paste .......................... ½ Tbsp.
Amchur(dry mango) powder ..... ½ tsp.
Black salt powder ..................... ½ tsp.
Black pepper powder ................ ¼ tsp.
Salt .................................. As per taste
Ghee (melted) ......................... 2 Tbsp.
Coriander leaves chopped ...... ¼ Cup


DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a bowl soak sabudana in water for 1 hour and then take out water from it. Cover bowl and keep it aside for 5-6 hours.  After  5-6 hours sabudana will be ready for cooking.  
  2. Take ghee in a pan and heat it up.  Add cumin seeds, green chili chopped, curry leaves, ginger paste and mix it properly. 
  3. Now add small pieces of potato and mix well.  Put the lead on and let it cook on medium heat.
  4. Add amchur powder, salt, and black salt powder in soaked sabudana and mix well.
  5. Once potatoes are completely cooked add sabudana into a pan and mix it well. Put the lead on and cook for a couple of minutes on low heat. 
  6. In the last add crushed peanut, coriander chopped and mix well.
  7. Take it out the pan from heat and serve hot.
