Besan Puda | Besan Chilla with Yogurt | Besan Chilla

Besan puda or Chilla look similar to a pancake and is made from chickpea flour. It is very quick and easy to make a dish and perfect for breakfast, light lunch or dinner.




INGREDIENTS: FOR 7-8 pudas

Besan(gram flour) .........  1  Cup
Yogurt ............................. 1 Cup
Rice flour ......................  3 Tbsp.
Sesame Seeds .............  2 Tbsp.
Red chili Powder …....  1 ½  tsp.
Turmeric Powder ...........  ¼  tsp.
Salt ......................  As Per Taste
Ajwain ...........................  ½  tsp.
Oil ..........................  As Needed

FOR TEMPERING:
Oil ................................  2 Tbsp.
Mustard Seeds ...............  1 tsp.
Cumin Seeds ..................  1 tsp.
Asafoetida ....................  ½  tsp.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In bowl mix besan(gram flour), yogurt, rice flour, sesame seeds, red chili powder, salt, turmeric, and ajwain. Add water as needed and prepare the batter.
  2. In a pan take 2 Tbsp oil and heat it up. Add mustard seeds and when it starts to crackle add cumin seeds and asafoetida and add this oil mixture in puda batter. Keep batter aside for half an hour.
  3. Take a flat pan and heat it up. Take one big spoon of batter and spread it on a pan in round shape.  Drizzle a little oil on top and let it cook for a couple of minutes.
  4. Then flip the Puda and Allow it to cook on the other side till light golden-brown spots appear.
  5. Hot puda can be served with tomato sauce or coriander - mint chutney.
