Farali Tikki | Moriya-Potato Patties | Fasting Patties

Farali tikki is made with moriyo, potato, and spices. It is eaten mostly during fasting. It is shallow fried using very little oil. Fafali tikki taste great when you eat with tea or coffee.



INGREDIENTS: for 12 tikkis

Moriyo ...............................   Cup
Water …………................…. 1 Cup
Potato boiled ................. 2 Medium
Green chili chopped ..........  1 Tbsp.
Ginger paste .....................  1 Tbsp.
Sesame seeds ..................  1 Tbsp.
Cumin seeds ........................  1 tsp.
Coconut powder ...............  3 Tbsp.
Turmeric powder .............  ¼ Tbsp.
Salt .............................  As needed
Sugar ...................................  1 tsp.
Lime juice .............................  1 tsp.
Coriander chopped ...........  3 Tbsp.
Broken cashew .................  2 Tbsp.
Raisin ................................  1 Tbsp.
Oil (Peanut oil) ............  As needed


DIRECTIONS:
  1. Wash moriyo (samo) for 2-3 times. Transfer into a pan, add 1 cup of water and salt. Mix well and cover it. Let it cook on medium flame till all water part is dissolve. Remove from the heat and keep aside till it cool down completely.
  2. In a bowl take cooked moriyo, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, ginger paste, green chili chopped, turmeric powder, broken cashew, raisin, coconut powder, coriander leaves chopped, lime juice, sugar and salt as per taste and mix it well.
  3. Now peel boiled potato and mash it. Add mashed potato in the bowl and mix it properly.
  4. Divide tikki mixture in 12 equal parts. Take one part on hand and make a ball out of it and gently flatten them into a round shape. Prepare all tikki like this.
  5. In a nonstick pan, shallow fry the tikki with peanut oil till it became golden brown in colour from both side.
  6. Moriyo tikki can be served with tomato sauce, tea or coffee.
