Hummus | Fafafel spread | Chickpea spread

Hummus is a Levantine dip or spread made from cooked chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, red chili, coriander cumin powder, and garlic. This homemade hummus makes an absolutely delicious dip, perfect for entertaining a snack or for Middle East dishes.



INGREDIENTS: FOR 1 CUP OF HUMMUS

Boiled chickpeas  ..................... ¾ Cup
Whole red chili .................................  1
Garlic clove .................................  3- 4
Tahini (Sesame seeds paste) .. 3 Tbsp.
Olive oil .................................... 2 Tbsp.
Coriander-cumin powder ....... ½  Tbsp.
Water ................................. As needed
Lime Juice ...............................  1 Tbsp.
Salt ................................... As per taste

DIRECTIONS:
  1. In the bowl of a food processor, combine boiled chickpeas, garlic clove, whole red chili and grind it properly.
  2. Add water, olive oil, tahini (sesame seeds paste), salt, coriander cumin powder and process for 1 minutes, scrape sides and bottom of the bowl then process another 30 seconds.
  3. Add lime juice and process for 30 more seconds.
  4. Scrape the hummus into a bowl then drizzle about 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the top.

Note: You can store hummus in an airtight container and refrigerate up to one week.
