Masala Rice | Onion Rice

Masala rice is made from rice, onions and various spices.  Easy to prepare and taste great with yogurt. You may utilize leftover rice to prepare this dish.



INGREDIENTS: for 2 servings

Rice cooked ..........................  2 Cup
Onion chopped .................... ½  Cup
Green chili chopped ............. 1 Tbsp.
Oil ......................................... 2 Tbsp.
Mustard seeds ........................  1 tsp.
Cumin seeds ..........................  1 tsp.
Asafetida ...............................  ½  tsp.
Ginger paste ...........................  1 tsp.
Turmeric powder ...................  ¼  tsp.
Red chili powder ....................  1  tsp.
Salt ...............................  As per taste
Coriander leaves chopped .... ¼ Cup


DIRECTIONS:
  1. Take cooked rice in a bowl, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, a little salt and mix well. Make sure while mixing rice doesn’t break.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds crackle, add cumin seeds, asafetida, and chopped onions. 
  3. While sauteing’ onion, add ginger paste, chopped green chili and mix well.
  4.  Saute’ for few seconds and then add cooked rice, mix well.
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with yogurt.
