Methi Crisp | Fenugreek Leaves Baked Puri

Methi crisp is a baked version of methi puri.  This healthy snack made from gram flour, wheat flour, and fresh methi leaves.  It tastes little bitter and goes well with tea, chutney or raita.



INGREDIENTS: for 30-35 crisp

Gram flour ...........................  1 Cup
Wheat flour ........................  ½ Cup
Wheat flour coarse ............  ½ Cup
Salt ............................. As per taste
Oil ....................................... 4 Tbsp.
Methi leaves chopped .......  ½ Cup
Sesame seeds..................   3 Tbsp.
Red chili powder ............... ½ Tbsp.
Sugar ................................  2 Tbsp.
Turmeric powder ................  ¼ tsp.
Water ........................... As needed
Oil ...............................  As Needed


DIRECTIONS:
  1. Take it out leaves from the stems of the methi(Fenugreek leaves). Wash leaves thoroughly in running water for 2-3 times and put in the strainer and lets it dry for sometimes. Now chop the leaves. You could chop methi with a knife or chop them in a food processor.
  2. Mix gram flour, wheat flour and wheat flour coarse in a bowl. Add oil and mix it well. Now Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, sugar, sesame seeds, methi leaves and mix it well.
  3. Combine all the ingredients and knead into a hard dough, using enough water.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  5. Divide the dough into 5 equal portions and roll out each portion into round thick circle.
  6. With the help of cookie cutter cut the round in a small circle. Repeat the same process for rest and make ready all small circle. ( If you want you can cut methi crisp in any shape.)
  7. Arrange all circles on a greased baking tray. Spread oil on the front side of circles with the brush. Bake them one side for 10 minutes then remove the tray from the oven and flip them. Once again apply oil on the front side of circles and bake them again for 10 minutes or until it became light golden brown in color on both sides.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool down.
  9. Then put methi crisp into an airtight container. It stays good for 1 month.
  10. Methi crisp can go well with tea or coffee.

Note: As Methi crisp bakes in the oven, it preserve methi’s bitterness but it's very healthy snacks. If you do not like the bitter taste then you can fry it in oil to reduce its bitterness.
