Makki ki Roti | Corn Flour Roti

Makki ki roti is a traditional dish from northern India especially Punjab. It is made from corn flour. It is best matched with Sarson ka saag and the duo makes a great combination.



INGREDIENTS: for 5 rotis

Corn flour fine .................  1  Cup
Besan .............................  ¼ Cup
Ajwain seeds .................... ½ Tsp.
Grated radish ................... ¼ Cup
Salt ...........................  As needed
Hot water ..................  As needed
Butter ……………....... As needed



DIRECTIONS:
  1. In a bowl take corn flour, besan, ajwain seeds, salt and grated radish(muli) and prepare a stiff dough by gradually adding hot water.
  2. Now make 5 equal balls out of the dough. Put the plastic paper on your rolling surface, wet the plastic paper with water and place 1 ball and cover with another wet plastic paper.
  3. Now roll the roti with rolling pin and make 4” round roti.
  4. Heat the Tawa on medium high heat. Carefully remove roti from the plastic and place on a hot Tawa.
  5. Cook roti, putting light pressure on the edges with a muslin cloth till golden brown spots appear on both the sides and the roti turns crisp. Repeat the same process for rest.
  6. Take it out from the heat. Apply butter on the top and serve hot with Sarson ka saag.
