Masala Puri | Masala Mathari | Crispy Snack

Masala puri or Masala mathari is a favorite tea time snack and it can be stored for longer period of time. So you can make in bulk and enjoy with tea every morning. It is a crispy & crunchy in texture and tastes delicious. It is made from wheat flour and spices.



INGREDIENTS: for 50-60 puris

Wheat flour .........................  3  Cup
Oil .......................................  5 Tbsp.
Sesame seeds ...................  3 Tbsp.
Green chili paste ............  1½ Tbsp.
Cumin seeds ....................... 1 Tbsp.
Ajwain seeds .........................  1 tsp.
Black pepper crushed ...........  1 tsp.
Turmeric powder ..................  ½ tsp.
Salt ...............................  As needed
Oil ..........................  For deep frying
Water ............................  As needed


DIRECTIONS:
  1. Take wheat flour in a bowl add oil and mix it well.  Now add salt, chopped green chili paste, cumin seeds, ajwain seeds, sesame seeds, black pepper crushed and turmeric powder. Then add water gradually as needed and knead into a hard dough.  
  2. Divide the dough into small equal portions (60-70) and roll out each portion into 3” thin round circle. 
  3. Prick the puri surface with a fork at regular intervals.
  4. Now heat the oil in a pan on medium heat.  Once the oil is ready, add 6-7 puri at a time for frying.  Fry puri on low-medium heat till it becomes crispy and light golden in color.
  5. Remove masala puri from oil and drain excess oil on a piece of tissue paper.  Fry all the puris like this.
  6. Cool completely and store in an air-tight container.  It can stay good for 4-6 weeks.
