Moriya Khichdi | Moriayo Khichdi | Samo Khichdi for Fasting

Moriya/Moriayo/Samo khichdi is very popular Gujarati khichdi mostly made during fasting. It is easy and quick to make and served with yogurt.



INGREDIENTS: for 3-4 servings

Moriya/Samo .......................  1  Cup
Ghee .................................... 2 Tbsp.
Cumin seeds ......................  1  Tbsp.
whole red chili ……….........……  2-3
Peanut ................................   ¼ Cup
Turmeric powder ...................  ½ tsp.
Red chili powder ................   1 Tbsp.
Salt ..............................  As per taste
Water ..................................... 3 Cup



DIRECTIONS:
  1. Wash moriyo (samo) for 2-3 times. 
  2. Heat the ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds when seeds crackle adds red whole chili, peanut and sauté for 1 minutes. Add moriyo(samo), water, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt mix it well, cover and cook on low flame till all water part dissolves. 
  3. Remove from the heat and keep aside for 5 minutes. 
  4. Moriyo khichdi is served with tea/coffee or yogurt.
