Onion Rava Dosa | Rava Dosa | Quick Dosa Recipe

Onion Rava Dosa is a very popular South Indian breakfast which is very easy to prepare. It is an instant recipe and needs no prior planning. It is very tasty, crispy and instant but you need a little skill to prepare this dosa.



INGREDIENTS: for 4 Dosa

Rava (suji coarse) ............  ½  Cup
Rice Flour .......................... ½  Cup
Wheat flour ........................ ¼  Cup
Ginger paste ......................... 1 tsp.
Onion chopped ..................  ½ Cup
Asafoetida ..........................  ½  tsp.
Black pepper powder .........  ½  tsp.
​Cumin seeds ........................  1 tsp.
Green chili paste  .................  1 tsp.
Salt ............................. As per taste
Water ..............................  2 ½ Cup
Ghee/Oil ...................... As needed


DIRECTIONS:
  1. Take rava (suji coarse), rice flour and wheat flour in a bowl.  Add Ginger paste, asafoetida, black pepper powder, cumin seeds, green chili paste, salt, and water.
  2. Now mix all together well with hand. Make sure no lump left in dosa batter. 
  3. Heat the flat pan(Dosa tawa) on medium high heat. Sprinkle some chopped onions on top of it.
  4. Remember for every dosa, you have to mix the batter well so that the rava will not settle at the bottom.
  5. Now take some batter in a big spoon and spread over chopped onion on hot pan and make dosa. Drizzle ghee or oil over the dosa.  Rava dosa will take a longer time to get cooked than normal dosa.
  6. Once dosa turns into golden brown color from the bottom and the corners start lifting up slightly carefully take it out dosa from the pan.
  7. Repeat the same process for remaining batter to prepare dosa.
  8. Serve hot with potato masala, sambhar or chutney.
