Wheat Halwa

Wheat halwa is a popular sweet made in all over India. Wheat halwa can be made for any occasion or any day. It could be a celebration, a festival or you just want to have something sweet. It can be made with either whole wheat flour or wheat flour coarse.



INGREDIENTS: for 4-5 servings

Wheat flour coarse ........... 1 Cup
Ghee melted ..................  ½ Cup
Sugar ...............................  1 Cup
Milk ..............................  1½ Cup
Water ...............................  1 Cup
Cardamom powder ............ 1 tsp.
Almond chopped ............. 3 Tbsp.


DIRECTIONS:
  1. Take milk and water together in a thick bottom pan and boil it. 
  2. Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan or kadai. Add wheat flour coarse and roast on medium flame. Stir the mixture continuously till it becomes light golden in color. 
  3. Once flour roast properly and you can smell its aroma add sugar and mix it well. 
  4. Add ¼ part of boiled milk, and stir the mixture continuously. When mixture absorbs most of the milk , add another ¼ part of milk and stir well, repeat again the same process and add all milk to the mixture. 
  5. Stir the mixture continuously on medium heat till all the moisture has been absorbed and the ghee separates. 
  6. When ghee starts coming out from the halwa, add cardamom powder and mix it well. Remove from the heat. 
  7. Garnish with chopped almonds and serve.
