Peda | Milk Peda

Peda is soft milk fudge which has a slightly grainy texture. The word peda is synonymous with traditional Indian milk fudge sweet. I guess peda might even be the oldest traditional sweet in India dating back to centuries. This peda made from home made fresh paneer, milk mawa powder, sugar, cardamom powder and fresh milk.




INGREDIENTS: for 20 peda

Milk ................................. ¾ Cup
Milk mawa powder .......... ¾ Cup
Fresh paneer .................. 1 Cup
Sugar …………………..... ¾ Cup
Cardamom powder …....…..1 tsp.
Green pistachio ........ As needed

  1. In a thick bottom, pan takes milk and heat it up. Add sugar and mix well. Let it boil for a minute. Then add milk mawa powder and fresh paneer.
  2. Mix well and cook on between low to medium heat till milk completely evaporated.  In between stir continuously otherwise it will burn from the bottom.
  3. Remove from the heat when the mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan and becomes thick dough like consistency.
  4. Transfer mixture to a bowl and let it cool down.  Add cardamom powder and mix well. Divide the mixture into 20 equal parts and make small round shape peda out of it. Garnish pistachio slices on top of it.
