Whole Wheat Naan | Naan | Wheat Naan

Whole Wheat Naan is a type of soft, flatbread made from finely ground wheat flour. Homemade wheat flour naan is fresh, soft and much healthier than frozen or all purpose flour naan. Perfect for any Punjabi subji, or curries. I have tried to make this recipe very easy. So, anyone can make their own wheat flour naan at home and enjoy their favorite curry.

INGREDIENTS: for 6 Naans

Whole wheat flour ………..... 2 Cups
Active dry yeast ...................... 1 tsp.
Warm water ......................... ½ Cup
Sugar ...................................... 1 tsp.
Salt  ............................... As needed
Oil ........................................ 2 Tbsp
Milk  ..................................... ½ Cup
Butter ............................ As needed

DIRECTIONS:
  1. In warm water dissolve dry yeast. Allow sitting for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
  2. Now add sugar and milk into water and mix well.
  3. In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, salt, and oil. Add activate yeast water mixture into the flour mixture as needed and make a firm dough. After the dough is ready, knead the dough until very smooth and soft. Cover it and leave it aside for 1 hour.
  4. Divide the dough into 6 equal parts and make small round. Cover them and leave it for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
  6. Spread some flour on flat surface and start to flatten each round to make 5-6 inch oval shape flatbread with your hand.
  7. Place all naan on baking trays.
  8. Place baking trays into the oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until light golden one side then flip and bake for 5 more minutes or until light golden color.
  9. Remove naan from the oven and immediately spread butter. Serve warm with curry.
