Whole Wheat Breadsticks | Bread Sticks | Wheat Breadsticks

Breadstick generally made from all-purpose flour, but I made this with whole wheat flour for enjoying favorite meal, healthy way. Serve these wonderfully soft breadsticks warm out of the oven, brushed with melted butter and sprinkled with garlic powder. Goes really well with Italian meals.

Breadsticks


INGREDIENTS: for 8 Breadsticks

Whole wheat flour ………….. 2 Cups
Active dry yeast ....................... 2 tsp.
Honey ................................... 3 Tbsp
Salt ............................... As needed
Butter ................................... 1 Tbsp
Warm water ........................... 1 Cup

For The Topping:


Butter ................................... 2 Tbsp Garlic powder ...................... 1½ tsp. Kosher salt .................... As needed


DIRECTIONS:

  1. In warm water dissolve dry yeast. Add 3 tablespoons honey and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes to activate the yeast.
  2. In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, salt, and butter.
  3. Add activate yeast water into the flour mixture and make a firm dough. After the dough is ready, knead the dough until very smooth and soft.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 equal parts. 
  5. Roll each part of dough into a 6-inch log. Place dough logs on baking sheets, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  7. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown. 
  8. Meanwhile, combine butter, salt and garlic powder in a small bowl. 
  9. Remove breadsticks from the oven and immediately brush with butter mixture. Serve warm.
