Gur para or Gurpara are authentic Indian sweets. This simple and stress-free recipe, perfect for festival seasons, made from Gur(Jaggery), whole wheat and Oats flour which is healthy variety of sweet para. These small sweet chunks can be munched anytime or with a cup of tea and a perfect fit for kid’s lunch box.

Oats Para



INGREDIENTS: for 4 cups of para

Wheat flour ................. 1½ Cups
Oats flour ……………….. ½ Cup
Ghee (melted) ................ 4 Tbsp.
Salt .................................. Pinch
Jaggery .......................... Cup
Water ............................. ½ Cup
Oil ..................... For deep frying


DIRECTIONS:
  1. Heat water and jaggery in a pan until jaggery dissolved into water. Remove from the heat and keep it aside for cool down.
  2. Take wheat flour, oats flour, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.  Add ghee and mix it well. Now add jaggery water gradually as needed and knead into a hard dough.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll out each portion into 8” round thick circle. Then cut each round into diamond-shaped pieces.
  4. Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat. Add some para into hot oil for frying.  Fry para on low-medium heat for a long time so they are a cook from inside also. Fry para till it becomes crispy and golden brown in color.
  5. Remove Gur para from oil and drain excess oil on a piece of tissue paper.  Fry all the para like this.
  6. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.
